MEMBERS’ GUIDELINES & RULES

HOW TO USE THE BAHAMAS WRITER FORUMS
(they’re fun, informative and free!)

1. To participate in the forums you must be a registered member. Click on the “help” button (next to the “home” button towards the top of the forums page) for an easy step by step guide.

2. Remember to click the “bookmark” button when you want to receive email notifications of new posts in a particular thread (sorry, we don’t yet have the facility for members to request email notifications of new threads in one or more topics).

3. Actively check the forums regularly; otherwise you may miss important posts.

4. You will notice a member-ranking feature in TBW Forums. This is based on some of the fruits of the Bahamas, ranging from the small Sapodilla to the large Water Melon!

0 posts = New Member
10 posts = Sapodilla
50 posts = Mango
200 posts = Sugar Apple
1,000 posts = Pineapple
2,000 posts = Water Melon

RULES

1. The Bahamas Writer Forums are writers’ forums for writers worldwide (we wish to provide an inspiring place where writers can meet casually and amicably; share their passion for writing; learn more about writing and writing opportunities; and encourage other writers who may still be struggling).

These forums have replaced the “Old Bahamas Writer Forums” which unfortunately had to be discontinued due to a large amount of “spam bots”. Please feel free to refer back to the archived “Old Bahamas Writer Forums” at any time. You will not be able to post in the archived forums, but you may find some of the content quite helpful.

2. Please keep topics relevant to writing.

3. Topics may be moved to a more appropriate forum if necessary or deleted if there are duplications.

4. Topics should not be political; should not involve sensitive issues; should not be inflammatory or objectionable; and they should not contain sexually explicit or violent content; or they will be removed without warning or explanation and the membership of the person responsible for the unacceptable post may be cancelled.

5. The Bahamas Writer Forums should not be used as a platform for grievances; should not be used to voice opinions on controversial matters; and should not be used to make an unnecessary gender statement; or the post in question will be removed without warning or explanation and the membership of the person responsible for the unacceptable post may be cancelled.

6. We will remove without warning or explanation any posts that have direct or indirect links to any pornographic, violent or questionable web sites and the membership of the person responsible for the unacceptable post may be cancelled.

7. We will not tolerate personal attacks in the forums or via email and we will not enter into disputes between members. Email that is of a controversial or questionable nature will not be responded to. However, if a user feels that material posted by another user or email sent to them is objectionable, they are asked to email the Bahamas Writer (click on the user name Fay). We will then take any action we deem necessary under the rules of The Bahamas Writer Forums.

8. Work that is posted in the critique section should be in plain text (no fancy fonts, different colours or images!).

9. Members should only post their own work for critique, not that of others.

10. When critiquing other members’ work, please remember that this is their work and you are stepping into their world! Critique kindly and take care with the “soul of the writer”. Constructive criticism only. Critiques should be slanted towards helping the writer achieve publishing success.

11. If members appear to be “spamming” The Bahamas Writer forums, their posts will be deleted and their membership may be cancelled without warning.

12. You must not post any copyrighted material that is not owned by yourself. The Bahamas Writer is not responsible for any breach of copyright by Bahamas Writer Forum members.

Please note: We may cancel (delete) without warning or explanation the membership of any member who does not comply with the rules of The Bahamas Writer Forums.
